Default What is wrong? Went to the dyno

I went to the dyno today and was highly dissaspointed. I have a turbo Prelude pushing 10 pounds and this is what I got.....

The power cuts off right at Vtec and the curve is all shitty. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Pic works for me.

Can't tell what the correction factor is but it looks to be breaking up. What plugs and gap are you running? Also what is the condition of the cap/rotor/plug wires?

Yea that power curve is super choppy. My guess, try different plugs and also I am assuming (judging by the loss of power in the vtec area) that the ignition timing really needs to be looked at.

What's the setup consist of? Most of the time you are in boost you are at or over 12.5:1

It's uberdata tuned, just replaced the plugs and gapped them to .030. And the plug wires are probably the same ones that have been on there since I got the car(and probably the same ones the car has had since mile 1.) The distributor and it's components are fine. What do you suggest for timing? My tuner did it and I don't know what it is at.

The turbo setup is

T3/T4
10 psi wastegate
2.5" dumptube
3" exhaust
2 step colder plugs gapped to .030
6" intercooler
Stock internals

looks like a problem with the ignition...pretty choppy. That is pretty low man, i would be pissed too.

does the car even feel faster? The boost gauge is showing 10 psi? Doesn't even look like the turbo added much if any power.

It feels ok till VTEC, that's when the power dropped 50 hp. Should I upgrade my wires? What timing would you suggest? The gauge is showing 10 psi. Damn I'm stumped and pissed.

and did u try to lower your vtec point to around 4000-4500?

Well I thought my plugs were gapped at .030 but I was just informed my dad went and ungapped them to see if i would notice, because he thought they didn't needed to gapped when they are 2 steps colder. (He doesn't understand the whole concept of why they need to be gapped)

But anyways I regapped them and it ran smoother but still has that dip in VTEC. Not as drastic but it still dips. Dammit my dad owes me money because I wasted it at the dyno.

IM aslo having the same issues in my b16 with a drag kit right at vtec you can hear like its back firing out the exhaust even changed distributors and still same ****

Can you post log pics of you timing and load (boost) like you did with the A/F pic ?

What is your complete setup and what size injectors are you running? Have you ran any tests on the car to check to see if your getting weak spark?

Probably not enough timing.

Your timing is soooper wack. That's why the power curve is all bumpy like it is.

Hey guys I am the guy who has been trying to get this car tuned. So far the car has only been tuned on the street with a wideband. I was not at the dyno with him so I basically just started out as a basemap with a step retard for the timing.
Here is a pic of his high cam timing map

you are right...after looking at his dyno it appears that more timing needs to be added to those maps in the 5-6k range. The timing could probably be increased some overall as well, but we didn't have a dyno so I wasn't going to try increasing it muc more. I remember trying to increase it a little more than this though without the car feeling any better. It simply feels like it doesn't want to rev out. One thing I found that could possibly be killing his power is the guy who made the turbo kit routed the dumptube for the wastegate into the downpipe very close to the turbo. In fact it dumps straight into the downpipe at the bend coming off the turbo.

It's almost not so much as timing needs to be added as it is that it needs to be cleaned up. Those jumps between cells are very big, and that's what is causing the erratic dyno sheet. Just takes some time. Good job though.

The part in white is why there is a dip on the dyno sheet. Notice how the timing numbers a much lower than the ones above and below them? And same with the row in red. It just needs to be cleaned up a little. What you dont want, is big jumps in the timing like that.

Yeah, you can see right where its happening too. about 10psi and 5000 rpm it drops to 13 degrees. I know H series timing is a little different than Bseries, but I still run over 23 degrees at 10lbs, I have 8.5:1 CR.

yea you are definintly right about that. I am just now noticing that. I was using a supposedely tuned boosted h22 map as a base for this timing map because there isn't really a decent basemap for a h22 using uberdata. I just used a different step retard than they had used because their total timing was insanely low for some reason. At first glance I thought the timing maps used on this tune were the same as I had used before to tune my friend's all motor h22 and now that i go back and look they are definintly way different in that one area. I originally had the car running on a basemap made with those original h22 maps i used on my friend's car and it still ran basically the same way . Even though there is a dip in the graph in that one area it still doesn't explain why the car didn't make **** for power overall. Any ideas guys? I still think its either something ignition related or that dumptube placement.
