Oil leak from turbo
I went on a road trip this past weekend and noticed some oil accumulating in some weird spots at the end of the trip. I had just changed my oil and used Mobile 1 synthetic for the first time. I know there are detergents in the oil, but I had no idea I could have this much grime in some spots. The most frightening spot was oil on the air intake before the turbo (charge pipe). I peeked inside and saw oil coming up. I took the pipe after the turbo and before the intercooler and saw oil. I just had the turbo rebuilt back in december. Either something else is leaking oil, or the shop did a terrible job if at all on rebuilding the turbo and seals. And of course they only warranty for 90 days. It is a GReddy 18G. Any suggestions?
i had the same problem a few weeks ago. i dont know where it is coming from. i wiped it off and it came back once then like 2 days later it came back, once again i wiped it off and it hasnt come back yet, i dont know what the deal is. i didnt take off any piping or anything so i dont know if there was oil in the pipes or not but nothing has happened so far, so i am hoping everything is ok(knock on wood)
keep me informed on it if you find out what the problem is!!!

my friend(gen2integra2001) had oil leaking from the turbo and all i know is that he had to get a new one so ill show him this thread so he can tell you what was wrong with his turbo
A few things can be bad. The oil seal at the back of the compressor housing/back plate may be wearing down....or it may be that you have a cracked journal inside the center unit of the turbo itself which causes major oil leak at the compressor side and at the turbine/downpipe side.
Thanks...that would be wonderful if I could get some help from someone who has experienced this as well. I can't find anything in the archives about this specific topic. Oil outside of the block certainly sucks!

oil was comming out from my turbo on the turbine side because when i was putting in the oil my friend put another quart of oil in and i didnt know that he did that. So the oil wasnt draining from the turbo and after awhile of not knowing what was going wrong the seals on the turbo went so now i only put in about 3 quarts in my engine and carry 2 extra quarts in the car just incase. But also check were your oil level is at and if your oil return line goes down with no upward bends

I think that is what this shop did. They added in the recommended amount of oil after draining the engine. Then they cranked up the engine for a bit and then added more oil to compensate for the turbo displacement. They probably added too much in and leaked through my breather outlet that is connected to my charge pipe. Maybe I'll switch back to conventional oil soon to see what happens, but I am keeping tabs on the oil dipstick everytime I drive. Thanks to you all for you comments
