I have a 2002 honda accord special edition and when i press the brakes on my car the steering wheel shakes, i was wondering if it could be the same problem. I brought it to a mechanic he said it needs a balance so he did it and he put 2 new tires in the front. and i still have the same problem. any help? please.

I've got to question your mechanic here....

A real mechanic should know to check the brake rotors. Unbalanced wheels will cause a shaking steering wheel all the time rather than just during braking.

Were your tires in need of replacement?? Also, how much did your mechanic charge you??

 

new tires, mounting them, balancing. he charged $120

 

when iam driving at speeds of 30 and higer mph, when you go to apply the brakes the steering wheel shakes? any help.

if you hace less than 36k you might still be under warranty for rotors work

 

its either warped and unbalanced breaks or your alignment is out of whack

 

warped rotors man.. n dude.. u gots screwed dude... dont go there again

 

Hi Upwind... seems like we are having the same problem. I took my car in and I was told 1. I needed a new tire because one of them had a "ball". 2. I need to balance and rotate the tires. and 3. I need to align the wheels. Did all of them, and it slowed the shaking a bit... but it is still doing it.

 

go get your rotors resurfaced at sum break shop and stop wasting your time with bad mechanics...
