Default Greddy Type S BOV sound when i didnt even BOOST!

so I think my BOV is a little loose because when i let off the throttle at 6"-O" inHg it sounds like its releasing boost, but the motor was still in vaccum How come? is my BOV too loose? How do i know how far to tighten it?

PS yes I searched

if your in vac the turbo is BARELY spooled....so I don't know how there is enough pressure in your charge pipes to make a sound when the bov opens..

Are you SURE it's the bov?

yes im sure i hooked it up right, its wierd because it still holds the 8psi, but say in second gear i get on it without going into boost say around 6-0 inHg at maybe 4krpm it will make a slight BOV sound. ( yes it is the BOV) I think i may have to tighten it up a bit. ANYONE know if this is normal. I read that it should stay closed at low boost say 1-2 psi. Tighten or no tighten that is the question

I thought that was normal too?

I can hear mine if I am cruising at 5-0 In Hg and let off the gas... it's not as loud as if I was > atmosphere but I can definately hear it open and release some air...

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I can ehar mines when I'm not in boost. also have Type S. It's the fact that even tho the turbo isn't building pressure, it is still feeding air and it's jsut enoguh to flow out the BOV when you let off.

the reason why i'm asking is because when i shift there is a slight delay in building boost, its like full boost...shift...6.7.fullboost...shift...6.7 fullboost...etc you guys get what i mean? yes i am shifting as fast as possible so thats not the issue. I read somewhere that it is ideal to keep someboost inbetween shifts so that the response is better. (so many issues )

mine did the same thing, i could be right before 0 on the gauge and mine would make a slight BOV sound.

i did tighten it down some because i thought i may have been experiencing some of the same issue, becareful because the housing has that aluminum threaded insert and if you crank it too hard it will pull the threads right out, not strip out, but the threads came out like it was a heli-coil or something

My Turbo XS type s does the same thing. I can hear the turbo spooling a bit, but I don't build any boost. the bov will still release.

Yea, that is normal. My hks ssqv hisses when I let off. Even though you dont see any boost on your gauge there is a little bit of pressure before the throttle body at higher rpms, and what causes the bov to open is higher pressure before the throttle body than after. The reason you see vac is because the gauge is after the throttle body. If you are cruising around that rpm where it usually opens the bov (when you let off) you should be able to go straight from a slight vac to full throttle and see a very small amount of pressure even before you feel the boost kick in because the turbo is already spinning. As for your question about the pressure drop between shifts that is normal too, but you can reduce it a little by making sure you have a good size hose between the bov and manifold, and tee it into a good place, and keep the hose as short as possible. The trick it to try get boost to fill the bov and hose feeding it as fast as possible when the intake manifold goes from boost to vac and back to boost when you shift.

my greddy type s will blow off at low vacuum too, like 4"for example. it has to do with throttle position too along with the vacuum

Why do you even post? Dont say anything if you dont like seeing "garbage." Your just wasting time posting useless posts. This forum was designed to educate people. How does it work if noone posts questions. "garabage" is subject to whoever reads.
