Default VERY odd problem involving map sensor code 3

before i begin lemme say i searched TONS and found people with similar problems but the threads always ended before anyone got an answer

so heres the deal...... we are running on the dyno..... about the 6th or 7th run in out of nowhere the a/f from 6k-up JUMPS instantly from 12.9 or so up to 14.5!! and throws a cel. we shut off the car crank it back up..... code is gone.... make another run.... same thing happens.... a/f jumps up and code 3 pops up.....this happens every time at 6k..... on the 5 or 6 previous runs the code was not there and the a/f was consistently in the 12.9's

the car has a vafc so we figured to take a look at the wires..... everything is soldered fine still and has been running the vafc for about a month now with no issues till now!....... so we decided to go ahead and totally initialize the vafc and see if that fixes it..... but nope after we did the initial testikng and set the parameters this still happens even with all the fuel settings at 0

does this sound like a vafc issue or another issue? im thinking vafc and just gonna take it out completely and see what happens

really sorry for the long post but this is really bugging the crap outa me!

thanks

could it not be that the actual map sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced????

I had a field SFC in my last integra and used to regularly get map sensor codes being thrown, it always turned out to be the controller that was causing the probelm. The guy i sold the car to rang me a while after buying it telling me the CEL came on, i told him to just switch off and on the engine as that usually cleared it for me...he tried that but the CEL appeared each time after switching it off, in the end it did actually turn out to be the map sensor itself, onec replaced it was 100% again. A MAP sensor from any PGMFi honda will do as theyre all the same, so there should be plenty in junk yards

happened on a buddy's prelude.. pulled the MAP out of my R to test his to eliminate that and it was the VAFC wiring, despite it "looking" ok..

I would redo the wiring first.. if not, swap in a MAP sensor.. if you have a buddy with a honda, just borrow his.. although some mount differently than others, they all work the same way and plug in the same way(at least 92-01 for sure)..

yea im about to take a look at it now......... this is actually my friends car....... and was installed by another guy........ ugh i hate fixing other peoples mess ups!!

i think im just gonna totally un-install it and see what happens and eliminate the problem to either the vafc or the sensor and then re-install it if it turns out to be the map
