V-AFC throwing a code 3...
When i dont run my v-afc i dont get a check engine light, but when i do it throws a code 3 when i get on it. I know its the map sensor code, any particular reason it does this only when i have the v-afc installed?
the wiring is fine. this only happens when the v-afc is installed, i had it off for a few weeks but just put it on again last night for my dyno tuning session next weekend. i might try swapping out map sensors...
i also think it is the wiring....if you are just crimping it together...some connection might be loose. just solder that beeatch to the ecu and you should have no probs...if you still do just get one of kenji's adapteres and waaaaala....all fixed.

I've replied to about half a dozen posts just like yours over the past 2 years about the v-afc causing MAP sensor code problems. Here's my experience. My v-afc threw MAP codes all the time, no matter what the v-afc settings. I soldered my connections, and re-soldered them a second time. Both times, I had a friend verify the proper wires with my Helms. I dyno-tuned with the v-afc and made very good power with it, so it was definitely doing its job. Still, it caused CEL 3. Then, with the v-afc still wired in, I "removed" the MAP wires from the v-afc by re-connecting the MAP wire between the sensor and the ECU (effectively taking the v-afc unit out of the loop). Immediately, my car ran fine. As soon as I reconnected the MAP "in" and "out" wires to the v-afc, the car threw a code 3.
Some guys can use the v-afc without any problems. A lot of us have the problem that I just described. I think it's just a compatibility problem for some of us.

same thing happened to me.. threw a code 3... the car was running really rich... I reset the code... still happened... I did a fuel system cleaning at the dealer... still happened... I took a second look at the wiring of the V-AFC. Sure enough the map sensor patch to the V-AFC came loose.. Dont ask me how?? I assume it is because of vibrations... anyhow... I solder that bastard in... no problems ever since.

make sure you a wired correct and reset your ecu when done.
Itr206 had this problem like a week ago and we rechecked all his wires and fixed them and he still got codes. then once he reset his ecu he is running fine now.

Mine only throws a code 3 when the VAFC fuel settings are above 15.
If you have yours set that high, get a Fuel Pressure Regulator and up the fuel pressure. Then lower the fuel settings on the VAFC.
Dyno tuning is a must!!!
Good luck,
