Bugs with my b18c1 swap. what should i do?
whats up everyone...i got a 99 gsr swap done to my 99 hatch a while back. But the only thing is that the guy who did my swap did it kinda halfed assed and now i have a cel becuz of the secondary o2 sensor, and thats keeping me from getting my car bar'd.
He used a 99 si engine harness, and pluged it into a p2t (running my gsr with stock im) so i have a lil bug there.
Next thing he kinda screwed me over with was using the 99 si engine harness, cuz then that means i would need a obd2b (he gave me an obd2a and said it would work just to brush me off) p72 to fit into the si plugs, But, those are only from 00-01 tegs which means they have the immobilizer, so i would need a chip in my key right??
So what options would i have in order to make my car prety much the way its supposed to be?
would it be better for me to get obd1 p72? will it be able to get bar'd?
Should i get a 99 gsr engine harness and use my obd2a p72??
any help suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

first off, you can't use a gsr harness.. at all. stick with the si, that's what you really want.
if I were you, i'd just get a obd2>obd1 converter and run an obd 1 p72 or chipped p28 and forget about the secondaries... plus it would kill the secondary o2 worries.

But if i get the obd1 p72 or chipped p28, will i still be able to get it bar'd?? Thats like my number 1 priority(sp)
some friend of my dad....he's a kool guy and all, but i guess he just kinda rushed it cuz he was moving and he had work at the same time he was doing my swap...

i don't think you can pass any type of inspection with an obd 2 > 1 conversion. they have to hook it up to the diagnostic tool and it won't work. stick with your harness and figure out the problem. sorry i can't be any real help here, i HATE wiring.

it's a completely different shape. it would work on a 92-95 civic, but not a 96-00.

so he's using a 99-00 si harness. well that harness should be an obd 2b harness. it should fit the ecu that came with the 99 gsr. if its like you said and was an obd 2a harness, then there's also a conversion harness for that. should make it a direct plug for your obd 2b ecu.
Acura lagged a year with respect to ECU connectors. A 00 GS-R ECU will plug into a 99 Civic, but a 99 GS-R ECU will NOT. Then you've got to deal with the immobilizer issue...
What you need to do is get a US GS-R ECU (JDM ECU's do not communicate with US OBD2 scantools) that does not have the immobilizer (like a 96-97, I think), buy a OBD2b-OBD2a jumper harness and plug it in.
You now have no immobilizer, the correct ECU for the engine, and full OBD2 diagnostics.

no thanks man, i already have a obd2-obd1 conversion harness that im looking to trade for the one i need. Thanks tho....nice car
The proper way to wire EK's is to use the stock civic harness and then add/extend wires as necessary (this of course is easiest when the motor is out of the car). You would then use a OBDII GSR ecu.
As for your setup the way it sits now I think you are going to have one hell of a time passing BAR.

So what your saying, the proper thing for me to of done is to use the stock dx wiring harness, add/extend wires to that one, then use a obd2b ecu? but what about the problem with the imobilizer?
BTW: thanks a mill for all the tips everyone...keep them coming
