Default First Car

I have a friend whose dad rebuilt an old 1985 - 1990 ish honda civic hatchback. I'm only a teenager, but i will be needing a car soon and he offered to jsut give the car to me, and pay only for the paper work, so thats around $50 or so. I have a question about the car though, the guy says there is a short in the electrical system and the batery is costantly being worn down. Is that something to worry about, and is it an easy fix? Getting professional help is not a problem, my whole family lives around cars and 3 of my uncles race. Also, i don't know alot about honda, but is this a potent platform for a quick, fun little daily driver? Thanks for all the imput!

Awesome. I also need to get the clutch adjusted, but that should be easy. I'll check with the owner tommorrow and try to see what year it is. One thing i'm sure abuot is that it has more than 100K miles. So a swap will be seen in my future. i don't know much abuot honda's so i'm start doin research. The B16 or B20 sounds like a good engine from wut i read, so i'ma start lookin at prices. Thanks for all the imput so far!

I'm not exactly sure what year the car is so i have a question about what swap i could do. I have searched and found nothing abuot doing a swap for a 1987 civic or lower. I'm hoping its a 1988, but if not what are my choices for engine swaps. I hope to find out the year of the car soon. Thanks!

If its a 87 and earlier model, then you can go with the 86-89 D16A1 integra engine. Drops right in your chassis (unlike 88+). Go to http://www.redpepperracing.com They are a <87 board
