'72 1200 GL Civic CVCC :::RESTORATION HELP:::
I work in the service department of "Honda Cars of Mckinney" in Mckinney Texas. Just recently a customer came in and told me a story of how his son recieved a car from some friends of theirs. "It was the very first Honda ever released in America" he told me. He said it was an orange 2 door hatchback. He wanted to know if there were any car clubs around that restored hondas and such. Of course I told him there are tons of clubs all over the nation that restore and modify hondas. But even as much as I know about Hondas and the endless world of modifying, tuning, and restoring, I have to say, I know nothing about this car. I did some research on it, and it loks like this car is a '72 Honda 1200 GL which had the 1.2 L CVCC engine. This of course is the 60 hp engine that was engineered just so that it wouldn't require a catalytic converter. Anyways, enough rambling...
MY QUESTION IS: Does anyone know a great deal about this car, or does anyone know where you could go to find information about aftermarket parts, or getting parts to restore the car with? He doesn't really wanna go crazy with it (no engine swaps or anything like that), he just basically wanted to clean it up, be able to restore worn out parts, and make it look good. I know what some of you might be thinking: "Shouldn't a guy working at a honda dealership be able to find out that kind of information himself?" Well to answer that question, no one here really knows anything relevant about the car. If anyone has any information I could use or give to my customer, that help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
