it's about time
after a couple years of sittin back, readin these forums and countless books, i think i am finally ready to embark on an engine build. course i always appreciate the knowledge of the H-T community. i think i can finally say i know a bit about hondas, especially accords, and that i'm ready to make serious power. I'm grabbing a spare F23A1 engine (hopefully w/ transmission) so i can take my time, and not have to worry about rushing because i need my car. I have a T3 super 60 turbo sitting in my basement now along w/ its custom steel headers and down-pipe, eibach front and rear sways and sportline springs, tokico hp struts, 150a alternator, decent little sound system, injen CAI to custom mount a BoV to, all waiting for the engine build. basically i want to be able to run close to, if not 1 bar of boost, reliably and have a well-behaved daily driver in it. I know sleeving would be most reliable, and first question for the boosted guys out there is if it's necessary? how much boost has someone reliably run on stock cylinders? this block will be align-honed and matched to pistons..... thanks for your input guys, when i gather some more money, and hopefully the engine soon, i'll try to post pics. It'll be a somewhat slow project, as i still work a low-paying job to fund this, but it should be fun nonetheless. All and any opinions are welcome, even flamers..... so i know who to ignore from here on out.
it's time to do the f-series some more justice

teh f sleeves are iron, so they can take the heat....on a stock F block, i believe the rings are usually the first to fail.....1 bar is like 13psi, right?.....with new internals, a reworked block, and good fuel managment and tuning, it should run like it was turboed from the factory
yeah, rings and ring lands get mangled, apparently. i'm indexing the block to pistons, possibly align-honed if it won't take too much off, hopefully no more than .010". AEM EMS probably, there's gonna be a lot of stuff i want to add little by little even after the buildup is done. what can i say... i can be excessive
i wouldn't push the oem sleeves past about 15 psi, but that's just me...they are ductile iron, but they weren't made for the intention of boost...i don't think they are as strong as aftermarket sleeves would be...but to answer your question, yes i think the oem sleeves could handle 1 bar, as long as you don't push it much past that...

yeah, i figured as much. nice that they're iron sleeves, but i think the capacity for 30+ psi on new sleeves would be ridiculous to put money into if i'm not going that far. are any people running 14psi on stock sleeves around this forum?

You could run 13 psi on stock sleeves of an Accord, but why if you have a spare engine, WHY? You should take your time completely tear it down and build a monster then you'll get some respect for the F series. You should start the project now and set a completion date for next summer.
You have the time and could build up the resources over that time to do what people wish they could do. Blueprint block, port&polish, port match, balance crankshaft, and whole bunch of other goodies.
If I had a spare engine and a place to work on it thats what I would do. If your putting turbo your a speed entusiats and after a short period of time your going to wish you had done more.

actually i've just decided to sleeve the thing so i can put some good boost down. gettin an F23A1 w/ tranny for 200 or so. should be fun
definitely gonna need some time though, but it'll be worth it.

theres been a few accords run 14 or so psi on COMPLELTY stock blocks...the most "famous" member being accordfreak, who was putting down like 260 wo the wheels, untill he got run off the road after being clipped on the highway and slammed intoa guardrail
