Default STOCK BLOCKS

I have been told that hondas d series engines have quite a robust block design. Does anyone know if they are open or closed block? Thinking about a D16 turbo, no sleeves = 1 less thing to spend $ on.

they are open deck.. and the block itself is capable of holding good hp, its just the rods that are the size of a pencil..

Ive seen ~420whp @28-29psi of boost on a stock sleeved d-series before. Just rods and pistons. The sleeves are pretty amazing.

I dont think id boost that much all the time however. But keep it under 24psi with good tuning and i think you will be fine.

Now the rods...not so much designed for performance in mind. Although ive seen 304whp on a totally 100% stock block before.
