are they good for chargepipes ? do they leak?
best regards moshik ga
p.s

Yeah but that doesn't mean it won't work. I've seen it done before and it works just fine. With the money you save using that for chargepipes you can spend the extra on a better intercooler or a better turbo.

What use is the "better" turbo/intercooler when the piping won't be able to hold more boost pressures?
Is that thing even air tight? And where are you going to mount the BOV?

Sorry I forgot this was Honda-Tech where fashion > function. Yes they are air tight, its not some wierd metal thats going to explode at 10psi. All you need is a little creativity and the BOV isn't hard to mount at all if you think about it. A better turbo and intercooler makes a more efficient setup where chagepipes just need to hold air, who gives a **** how it looks

$10 IC piping, $800 FMIC? Am I missing something here?
I suppose if it's airtight, you can use it. I support function over form, but god dammit, even I'm not that cheap!

better tell Nissan then - all fwd SR20's have a flex pipe right before the cat

theres a different flex pipe specially for exhausts..

Little hard to see but its a flex pipe inside wrapped with braided stainless, the inside flex pipe is different from the kind you showed above in this post as well. Usually they last longer.

i can speak out of experience when i say this because i have used the flex pipes, they suck. you cant get tight bends, they leak boost, they look ghetto, they decrease boost response, and it is a bitch to mount the blow-off valve. i tied this setup when i got my first turbo because i thought it would save me money, but considering it only cost me $40 for all of the material for my charge pipes it just wasn't worth it.
on my gsr i had (before i sold it) i had an anr header, and instead of welding the header to a flange, i took some of the flex pipe (cheap stuff shown in first pic) and clamped it to the header and the other end to the 2.5 kteller system i bought, it worked great, i was worried id crack the anr header, bc it had cracked before, but it did great after the flex pipe was put on, however for boost, im a little skeptical, but dont know first hand so im not gonna assume one way or the other and tell you as fact (like a lot of people do on here)

Ever heard the term, "for offroad use only?"

It leaks after a while and can be more easily damaged by debris than a solid steel pipe. Let me tell you a story about a Midas shop locally... About ten years ago, they fixed a guy's exhaust the cheap way (according to them, the guy wanted it rigged). About eight months later, he dies of carbon monoxide poisoning. Turns out that the job they did entailed a cheap NAPA- spec flex pipe of some sorts and since carbon monoxide poisoning is accumulative (breath it once, it's with you for a LONG time), over the course of the winter, driving his car with the windows closed, he breathed enough to die. An autopsy was done, the COD was found, and the family successfully sued Midas for a boatload of money.
