Default How is a Del Sol Vtec??

I've been searchin for a honda/Acura and I want a Vtec. Well I've found several Del sol Vtec 1994, 5 speed, one person said it had 35k miles, which I doubt its the original engine.

But what do you guys think of this car, does it perform well? Do they get good gains from bolt ons?

I've been looking at Modacar looking for aftermarket parts for it and their isnt a Del Sol section, would I look under the civic section since they both have the same engine. Thanks

Its a del sol with a 2000 Civic Si motor.

It's a mid-high 15 second car stock. They get decent gains from bolt ons, probably could pull a 14.9 with full bolt ons and some good driving.

could also be a VTEC model as well.

del sols doesnt have the vtec-e
civics doesnt have the dohc VTEC

And to the guy, i compare the del sol VTEC to the 99+ si.

OK
93 had two models available s and si. S had a 1.6 sohc non vtec, si had 1.6 sohc vtec
from 94-97
there were three models s, si, and vtec. s and si were the same as previous and vtec had a b16a3. abs was optional
the advantage of 94 and 95 vtec is having obd1
As far as the body, the only change was the fog lights were on the 93-95

word. when people say 'del sol vtec' usually they are referring to the b16a3 del sol. but there is the d16z6 (sohc vtec) sol. but i believe all del sols were obd1.

All Del Slow's were OBD1. As stated the vtec trimline had a B16 in it.....pretty cool cars IMHO. Tons and tons of JDM goodies for tehm as well.

The Honda CRX del Sol is a 2 seater targa top. It's slow like every other hatch out there, it's handling is horrible and it'll probably be hard to find parts.

And yes I own one and I love it!

even the CRV has VTEC... not just the del Sol. just pick what you like man!

well depending on what motor is in the car

if its got a d16z6 - its a good sohc motor that responds well to boost

if its got the b16a3 - its a good NA motor

but both could go the other way as well, so that is just my opinion... but its a good car to have, and not a lot of people have them either so its a good choice

I'm not sure where some of ya'll are getting your info, but there's a lot wrong on here.
93 did infact have only the S (only a 1.5 liter engine) and Si (packing the SOHC Vtec D16z6)
94 is when the DOHC Vtec model was first released.
95 minor mods to the sol included an incar trunk release and a fuel light
96-97 is when the biggest changes occured. The Sols ALL went to OBD II. They lost the Aux lights on the front end, and the S went to a non-vtec 1.6 liter engine.

And to answer your orignal question, the Vtec del Sol is a fun little car to drive. With some work, it can put down some good numbers. Course, you can do something in a Sol that you can't do in any other 90's Honda...GO TOPLESS!!

I beg to differ, gimme a honda and a chainsaw, I'll get her to take her top off

but yea, sollecs is right

I'm currently on my second VTEC SOL (1.6 DOHC VTEC) and I love it.

In some respects the car is not the most practical because it has only two seats and minimal trunk space, but if you don't have a family or if it is a second car, its definitely one of the funner hondas out there.

No need to do a swap, no smog issues because it is the stock engine, and the ability to go topless in less than a minute! There are just as many upgrades for these engines because all b16 parts will fit and most suspension pieces from the EG (92-95 Civics) swap right over as well.

Oh Ho! Touche! I stand corrected JL, the NSX also offered targa models. And good, well organized info. I have a tendancy to bury mine in a paragraph of useless text like this. oh well. Thanks for the correction!

just search around. the parts are out there. if you can't find parts for your specific model, then parts from other civic/integra models can fit in a lot of cases. just remember the engine bay layout is nearly identical to that of most civics, and integras. most of the suspension and brakes also swap over too. so if you can't find parts just for your car, try buying the aftermarket for other cars. just make sure it fits before you buy it.
