fuel efficient on y8 tranny
i'm planning to swap my y7 tranny to y8 soon, but i have a questions. since y8 tranny have better gear, will it decrease my fuel efficiency? cause i love my DX geting 33-35 mpg even with me driving it hard. thanks in advance.

It will decrease your mileage, but not by much. Cruising at 70mph in 5th on the freeway you'll be at 3100rpms rather than around 2500. So expect the car to be less efficient on long freeway rides.

i just bought my car like 2 months ago. could it be that it has a y8 tranny already?

It's a little work but you can take the 5th gear out of your tranny and put it in the ex tranny, I plan on doing that with my hx so I can get the best of both worlds.

either that or my tachometer gives me a wrong reading. anyway, i shows 1000RPM at idle, and when i test it with a scanner, it shows 700.

Stock tach's are known to be off by 300-400rpms.
