I've searched and now know how to change the tranny fluid, w/ the drain bolt on the passenger side of the tranny... and the filling bolt near the axels... after reading like 15 threads on this, i came across this guy who says you can fill the ATF (my moms car is an auto) where the dip stick for the tranny is.....?? is it just me or is that crazy?
can you really do this?
it seems half assed if even possible.. i just wanted 2 know if anyone really does it like this, i'll be changing the tranny oil myself for the first time and i wanna do it right
thanks in advanced

If the dipstick hole is big enough yes. I work at Acura and that's how we fill the RL's. Im not sure about a civic though.....
the dipstick checks the fluid from the same place, so i don't see why it would be any different. i'm pretty sure thats how you do it on an auto.. manual doesn't even have a dipstick

. Some dealerships fill MT through the speed sensor and just guess. That's how my Dx tranny got fucked up. Over filled tranny had so much pressure built up that it has some wierd cluck to it in 1st and 2nd. Only 96 xxxkm and it's done for. They say it's not their problem and that I might of done that. Yeah right! I opened up the filler bolt and it pissed tranny fluid for a minute. Damn *******.

How does the tranny build pressure? There is no pump, just gears turning in oil.
