Default Stage 1 complete. Got Block broken down ready for build up! (PICS inside)

Got this block REAL cheap. Its from a GS-R with very low miles. Spun a bearing.
Here are the pics of breaking it down to bare bones. Sending it to Golden Eagle very soon for re-sleeving and balancing.

theres me...and i did it all with my trust craftsman wrench..lol

the crank and pistons. Does anyone know why the bearings have different colors on them? I know you order the bearings as too what color they are, but why not just have all universal bearings? They all "look" the same.

all the nuts and bolts.

nice! hehehe

Now I have to find a head for this beast.

bearing shells are different thicknesses (hence the colors), you use different sized bearing shells to get the correct clearance on your journals.

Do you have a hatch to drop this in?

What are your plan for this B18C1? I'm still trying to decide what to do with mine in my CX. I've been toying with the idea of FI.

B18C1 =
Ziploc w/labels =
Ugly running shoes w/ out socks =

Ha ha, the ugly running shoes with no socks is my best friend. This was our first time ever taking apart a block, so we wanted to be sure not to lose or misplace any bolts.

A hatch to drop this in? Naw, why would I want to do that? I have something much more capable of handling the poweR to dRop this in. This aint going to be no 185hp all motor engine...we goin to the darkside with this one...its expendable.
muwhahahaha

sgt: just curious how many times you've lost a main bearing... if any.

never spun any bearings.
everytime i've torn down a block i have built, the bearings look new.

If a bearing is spun, its usually a good idea to have the bore honed

When, who knows, Honda is still trying to find a way not to cover it under warrenty. What, spun a rod bearing. No engine mods, head has never been off and never ran a header or intake. Engine only at 10k miles on it. Freaky.

YD: No, im keeping the R engine stock and untouched. Thats why im building this B18C1. I can keep driving the R while this motor gets built. My R engine will never be touched. So when the C1 is built, ill drop it into the R and have some serious fun for a while. If it blows or if I ever decide to sell the R, I'll put the stock motor back in and away it goes.....brilliant!

Asspenny: Have you called your Customer Service rep for Acura? They should cover your engine without a problem, Ive seen it done many MANY times before...and a lot on modified cars....Just raise a bit of fuss...they'll do it.

TJ - is that Blanc helping you out with the tear-down and build up? Let me know when you guys are assembling it... I want to see the process and maybe film it on tape.

That is exactly what I wanted to do!
Build a extra motor for FI, and keep the C5 Just in case...
Good luck, and keep the pictures coming!

. This aint going to be no 185hp all motor engine...

That was a cheap shot!

I've considered this route too... But you'll be getting fewer laps than me on a road course.

b00st I like though... Beater+boost = lots of fun and no fear if it blows.

aww, Black R, that really wasnt a cheap shop
There are plenty of people running in the 180s-190's all motor power...and those are real nice numbers...nothing to laugh at...your car hauls *** man....but im looking for a lot more then that.

Im looking for the close to 300 range...so you can understand why I want boost.
As for road courses, ill still be doing them...I'll defantely be at Talledega...my motor wont be complete by then, so ill be running NA with you all.
