Default D15b7 + y8 or z6 head?

exactly what the title says, whitch head would be better for a minime? i know the y8 would give it a tad bit more power, but would the cost difference be worth that bit of extra power? and how hard is it to up from obd1 to obd2 ? thanks guys, this forum rocks.

http://www.knology.net/~jediklc/D.htm

Y8 head gives 10.2 compression ratio

Z6 gives 9.8

so if you plan on forced induction you will have to look into it for future purposes

Actually the D15 with a D16Z6 cylinder head yields 10.10:1 compression and a D15 with a D16Y8 cylinder head yields 10.52:1 compression. March issue of Honda Tuning. The D16Z6 and D16Y8 heads usually go for relatively the same price. At least around here...

Exactly. With that calculator, B7/Z6/Z6 gasket = 10.105958746546186
B7/Z6/Y8 2-layer = 10.415211822031908
B7/Y8/Y8 gasket = 10.524130208037975
B7/Y8/Y8 2-layer = 10.862967482079001

Wait a minute I thought the Z6 head flowed better then the Y8 head.

It's thinner. Thinner gasket = more compression.

Supposedly it does. I have yet to see a flow test on both heads. Supposedly a D16Z6 head with a D16Y8 intake manifold is the best setup, for OEM parts that is.
