this sucks...
didn't notice it till i got off the freeway..
the crack is about five inches long at the bottom protion of
the windshield..i guess i'll drive it like that for a while.
how much is a new windshield cost plus labor..
should i go with oem (prolly double the cost
of an aftermarket one) or aftermarket??
my car is EM1.

 

in my 89 hatch it was like 315 and they did the shittest job with the weather stripping install.Shop around man.

 

my insurance company
covers any legit(like rock hitting it in highway) damage done to windshield from driving that will cause harm to me if its still there
so you may want to check up on that

They might, but is it worth your insurance going up over a small claim?

Yeah I've broken my windshield like 5 times on the highway and my insurance company offers free windshield replacement. I've never heard of an insurance company that DOESN'T do that for free.

Stop being such a numbnut.

 

it doesn't affect your policy, but for those with $500/$1000 deductible, it hurts to have to pay out that much!

another note of caution -- when you have the windshield replaced, be sure that they use primer to seal the paint scratches during the removal of the glass. (they "cut" through the sealant.) if it's not properly sealed, it'll eventually rust and leak through the years.

 

My dad gets windshields done for 150 delivered and installed. The company is in Portland, OR and they deliver all the way to Seattle, WA. My windshield in my EG Hatch costed 140. They do a perfect job too. It only takes them acout 10 min. too.

do this drive on the freeway for alittle bit and try and find a big truck that has rocks or something else that will crack your windshield and write down their name and try and find a #. i you say you were driving behind a truck and something flew out they will usually pay to fix it. or it work for my aunt. but good luck!

 

I have "window" coverage on mine. Forgot the exact word.

I just pay $100 deductable and they cover the rest. I've had to replace my passenger window on my old crx that way. Coverage stayed the same and didn't go up.

I have couple of rock chips now from driving on the highway. Waiting for a couple more til i have it replaced on my cx.
They will usually replace for you if the rock chip will impair your view of the road or the possibility of the windshield cracking and breaking.

 

my mom had a window replaced, that was covered by insurance, we just told them were the car would be, and she came out of work (shes a teacher) and it was fixed.

Electric Insurance based right outside of boston... they say i get no windshield coverage with basic liability.

My window is cracked from left to right, top to bottom on both passenger and drivers side, and the top of the window is scraped from the wiper. (the blade fell off and when u got that many cracks in the windshield, who gives a damn about a scrape )

then you dont know much about insurance and how it works.

it all depends on your level of coverage, if you have liability **** like a broken windshield ,thieft, vandalism you are SOL for any compensation. most companies offer full glass as an option, but some dont include it.
