Default Car Audio Info...I need some.

Anyone have any sites or know of any good books I can check out about Car Audio? I'm getting a 98 EX coupe and I was thinking about putting a relatively small system in there. 2 subs maybe an amp, and some other speakers, maybe some kickers and what not....but I'm not to knowledgable on the subject. I'd like to learn alot more in every department, techincal specs, installation, etc. Can anyone help?

Also, to make it easier, you can get in touch with the people from Crutchfield. Besides selling audio gear and give technical advise, they also sell some audio books.

Sound domain is really great, but the forums go by so fast not enough people pay attention to your questions.

I have a 95'gsr (so stock tweaters) and I would recommend getting a good 1/2 din equalizer for the car.. it really makes the stock speakers sing and can be adjusted such that the sound is very clean and undistorted. As for a sub and amp, I'm going Rockford Fosgate, 1 12" Infinity Sealed sub running around 250-300 watts rms to it. If your not listening to music loud, you can easily get away with stock speakers and a single 12 of your choice (ported or sealed) and get really clean, happy sound.

Feel free to ask any specific questions or im me!

Alright I like my music, loud, soft doesn't matter to me as long as there is sound . Anyway so say I was to invest in a decent set up. What would I need to make my music sound good? I don't listen to rap. I'm more into punk and techno.....odd mix I know. I know alot of systems are setup to accomodate rap.....would I be able to make my genre of music sound good and not sound like crap?

Techno and punk, anything vocal, get a decent component set for the front (seperate speaker and tweeter) this will really make the music sound clean, listen to what you like, don't worry about brand names, go to like an audio store and sample them.

If you get a decent head unit, you will not need an amp to power your inside four speakers because the head unit should have the power you require (40x4 or higher)

To give your music depth, and some bass, get an amp and try out a single 12" by like JBL, Kicker, Boston acoustic, Infinity, Fosgate etc. try to stay away from anything pyramid. Match it up with a decent amp (the store guy should help you) your prob looking for around 250 watts rms with a nice matched speaker. Again, listen to it, it will sound VERY different in the store and your car (cause your car is smaller)

Happy hunting!
