Default Entry Level Recommendations?

Sup everyone

Now I know a good amount about pro audio in live and studio settings, but I'm a little clueless about car audio. I have a 98 civic ex, needless to say the stock speakers being this old and abused aren't sounding that great, and I'm looking for a nice upgrade. I want to replace all the speakers and two tweeters... it doesn't need to be overkill, but I would like something that sounds pretty clear and nice while being able to hit a decent volume without noise/breaking up. I have a Kenwood HU right now (can't remember the model though). What decent speakers/amps are out there for just a daily driver basic/midrange setup? What kind of things should I be looking for in such (other than checking the rms wattages and the like)?

Thanks guys!

EDIT, should have mentioned I typically listen to rock/metal. Wouldn't mind getting a smaller sub maybe sometime in the future, but totally not needed for me

You should go to an audio shop and listen to different speakers. Different people have different ears. The amp really won't make THAT much of a difference (unless you are a true audiophile, but even then the car is a shitty soundstage anyway) as long as the rms power is at least that of what your speakers are rated for.

Best entry level component on the market is the phoenix gold rsd. forum boner on many car audio forums.

Decent amp to power them.

Ditto what mrdeadman said, take a disk of your favorite tunes to your local car audio shops and listen to the speakers and pick the set you like the sound of best.

If you are going to install them yourself find speakers that fit, it will make installing them a lot easier.

Save yourself a lot of grief and buy only from authorized dealers of the brand you pick, it is the only way to be sure you are getting manufacturers warranty, the real thing, [not a knock off] not getting a refurb, best bet is to always buy from your local authorized retail dealer, at the very least from an authorized online dealer, places like Car Audio Deals are 3rd party sellers, there is no manufacturers warranty, if you have a problem it will cost you and you will pay for shipping and insurance both ways. 94
