Welding Charge piping good or bad?
well i bought a set of charge piping for my civic. i was wondering if i weld the pipes together, is that a good idea or a bad idea. i mean i have hoses to connect them. i just thought welding would be a better idea, because i've heard under high boost they would blow apart.
welding is ideal.. but sometime of course it wont fit w/o using a coupler or two.
You can easily weld a bead or put a couple tab nipples on the end of the pipe to prevent it from blowing off.
I have also heard you can spray a lil hair spray and it'll stick like glue. I painted my charge pipes and I think the paint acted the same way.
I'm down in Champaign too for school. Hit me up if you need car help.

depends on how its built. I did my charge pipes in 2 total pieces. One big piece for the intake side, and one seperate piece for the turbo side.
The way we designed it it came off rather easily when I wanted it off. But never blew off . We made beads around them too .
I never had a prob with pipes blowing off even with drag piping. I have never ever used a Tbolt clamp either. Only the cheap Advanced Auto ones.

Nothing wrong with welding the pipes, and for the sections that have to have a coupler weld a nut to the pipes on both ends and run a metal stap to insure they don't blow apart.
you can weld them. i have 1 weld on my pipes currently and its fine (see pic below). silicone will work too, and it can allow for some small tweaks in fitment. either way will work...
