Gonna Buy My First EK9.....What Engine To Swap For?
Hey what's up everyone. My name's Steve and this is my first ever post on honda-tech. I am about to purchase a red 97 EK9 from my friend's father. It's a 5spd and the engine has about 98000 miles on it. The engine's been slightly modified (AEM CAI, DC header, exhaust, new fuel rail, NGK wires/plugs) and there's little body damage besides a little rust on the hood and missing side mouldings. Anyways, I'm planning on doing an engine swap as soon as I possibly can, but my question is this: what engine should I swap in that would be the most reliable engine as possible while still be able to put out a good amount of power. I can take my time on the swap if need be since I have another car to use as a daily driver (a Cavalier LOL) and I'm probably just going to drive the EK on nice days/weekends for cruising. I'm not that much of a mechanic/engine buff but I want to learn and I want a Honda to be my first car I actually do my own work on. I was thinking of doing a K-series swap but now I'm not too sure since it's kinda expensive and it's still kinda new. Any help/info is greatly appreciated and I'll keep everyone updated as progress is made!
Hi, first off, you are not getting an EK 9 Hatch but more likely a 6th gen hatch. IN the us they came as EJ hatches only. A B16A2 swap from an EM1 coupe would surely be as simple as they come ;-) Ought to upgrade brakes at the same time however.
