What are my options? Swap engine or modify current one?
I have an EK 97 Civic CXI (Australian model), not sure what the equivalent model is in the U.S. but it has the SOHC 1.6 (non v-tec) engine, it looks pretty good but that’s it and I've had it with having **** all power.
Launching straight into things...
As major engine tech isn't my forte perhaps someone can offer some sound advice.
Is doing an engine swap going to be less demanding on time and money than converting my current engine into a v-tec one or would that be ridiculous?
How about turbocharging as an option?
If an engine swap was what i ended up doing what would be a good swap, i was researching a b16b (SiR[US]/VtiR[AUS])or b18c (type R).
I of course know that there'll is a fair price difference between these two engines.
Would there be any advantage if say i did an engine swap and wanted to turbo charge the engine I swap as well?
I also have an understanding that the breaks would definately need to be upgraded. The stock ones are front rotors and rear drums.
Or would I be better off selling my car and starting again?

the car you have is the perfect platform to start with. i say, you should get a swap, although the d series has potential, you'd be spending alot of money on it to equal the performance of a swap. b16b or b18c, i say go for the b18c, more torque for your money right. good luck
