Default Bolts or Studs on the motor? (GSR)

Hey guys, so far I have not seen anyone else with Bolts that hold up the header to the motor.

Everyone else I have seen has studs.

I know this does matter in performance or function, but i'm just wondering why am i suppose to have studs?

oh yah b18c1

TIA

Bolts have a tendancy of backing out. Unless you buy the bolts that are specifically made for the connection.

Are you talking all motor with a header? Or turbo with a manifold?

If your talking about turbo then get a stud kit from Arturbo....this is what I am ordering tomorrow actually. Because the bolts that i've tried from my manifold to turbo connection are backing out all the time.....its frustrating. So, im solving the problem with the stud kit. Hope this is what you were looking for...if not send me a message that is more specific and ill find an answer for you

I'm talking about the factory header that goes in the motor. I never seen anymotor that uses bolts, except for mine. That's what i'm asking. Nothing to do with turbo.

Also, i have a the same problem with the turbo/manifold. I tried studs, they came off, I tried bolts, they also came off. But i already made a thread about that, and going to try other solutions later on.

sorry dont know about the stock header. i dont even remember the last time my gsr was stock.....

the stud kit from arturbo seems to be the best thing going for turbo/manifold. i started a thread about this....someone in the thread had a really good idea...its about half way down the link.....ill post it up in a second.

Bro, you are missing my point completely. Weather you have the stock header, a turbo manifold or what have you. If the motor has studs, you CAN'T use bolts. I'm talking about the studs coming out of the head.

Here's my thread about the bolts coming loose.

ok, i got a pic, you see those holes. If the motor has studs, then you can't use bolts. My factory one came with bolts which i never seen any other motor that uses bolts

iam sure you can still use studs
just order same pitch and right length and it will be fine

a local shop told me studs are much better than bolts

hey man they dont come stock with the bolts holdin them in, the came with the bolt in the block itself and nuts holding the header on... i have a bolt holding ma header too cuz one of the stud in the block broke so i had to drill it out and it hasn't backed out yet if that helps............

yup, that's exactly how mine is. All bolts except the 2 corners. That's a good theory on the 00-01 gsr thing. I guess it's same thing as the immbolizer idea in 00-01s

My friend's 98 LS has the same thing. Studs on each end and bolts for the rest.
