Default B20 turbo questions

well after getting almost all my parts together for a na b20 build i've come to the conclusion that my options were pretty limited. so i plan on doing a turbo b20.

first questions is it going to be the psi or the hp that will crack the sleve? i do not have the money to get it sleved

should i just stick with n/a because i can not get the block sleeved or can i put some decent numbers down with stock sleeves?

and lastly, i will be building it with low comp pistons and rods and such. please help me out. i've searched about this but theres not too much info on stock sleeve b20 non vtecs. thanks in advanc

If you're buying pistons and rods go pick up an LS block, much stronger sleeves.

When you can push a Ls block harder than a b20...and they are cheaper.

b20 blocks are questionable either way. Some say sleeves are just unreliable over 200 hp. I just read a thread about a b20 crackin 3 sleeves in an NA application. Me personally will be boosting my stock b20 block, my mark is 280-300 whp and if it cracks.. which i think will, i will go ahead and sleeve it. I have big plans for the motor anyway so i wont be mad if it does crack.

On the other hand some people have made good reliable power around 300whp on the blocks. Search around there should be a couple of people on this board who have done it.
good luck

running 8 psi on pretty much stock b20b w/ a sc50, no problems yet. ran afc hack for 2 weeks, now running hondata s200b w/ street tune. i had it tuned alil bit richer.

if it blows then i have a sleeved b20/vtec waiting to get dropped in.

So go to the junkyard and buy an LS block for 50 bucks, done.

I ran a bone stock B20 turbo for well over a year... It ran 12.01's all day at 13psi boost with t04E turbo (in a full weight EK coupe)... I still use the motor to this day in my commuter car... Tuning has alot to do with how long it will last... This motor has lasted me 3 years and still going... its NA now, but i plan on boosting it once again... The only modification i did to the motor was replace the valve springs with duals...

Mike...

like most people say, tunning is the key. with the b20's my tunner said its better to tune it alil richer than normal to keep the sleeves alil bit cooler.

Sell the B20 block. Buy an LS shortblock and put the P8r head on it. You'll be very pleased.
