Default can i remove those extra engine mounts?

there is an extra torque mount on the a/c compressor and i believe on the bottom of the transmission. i've heard before that you can remove them, but i'd like to hear some ideas first. i'll put energy suspension or prothane engine mount inserts in if i have to, to make up for some stiffness, but DA integras don't have these mounts and i'd like to ditch them, too.

DA's have 4 mounts, the DC's have 5. The DA's have one mount in the center of the front of the block with is attached to a cross member. The DC's don't have this cross member, so the 2 torque mounts are attached to the frame rails. Keep the torque mounts. you'll just be losing support for the motor if you ditch them. ES inserts are a nice upgrade as well.

The whole purpose of the rear and lower mounts is to reduce engine movement. That being said, it's not exactly smart to remove them if you plan on doing any spirited driving. ES inserts or Jimfab mounts will help to further reduce engine movement. If you go to an extremely stiff solid rear mount, then I don't see any problem with removing the lower mounts, but you'll need something more solid than just ES inserts.

did you remove the lower mounts?

i have a DIY for some almost solid mounts. maybe i'll forget the inserts and just make super-stiff plastic-stuff mounts and then dump the two lower mounts. i mean, swapped hondas only have the 3 main mounts, right? so why can't i just use 3? makes sense to me, but like i said, i wanted opinions, and if i'm wrong, i just won't do it i guess.

There are swapped Honda's, and there are properly swapped Honda's. A proper swap either uses good solid mounts like the Hasport mounts, or they run all of the mounts.

yeah, i always wanted a set of mounts for b-series into integra, and they finally made some, but i didn't want to spend $200+. i think i'll make my own solid poly mounts. like i said, i found a nice write-up once and bookmarked it. costs about $20. after that, you think i'd be okay removing the 2 lower mounts?

oh, you only wanted to stiffen that mount. i don't want that, i want to get rid of it altogether.

what's you motive for wanting to get rid of these mounts? Remember if you go with a solid mount your car is going to vibrate way more then if you just stick with the oem ones. Just throw some inserts in the stock torque mounts. if you take them off your talking maybe 10lbs weight reduction, not really worth in imo.

well, that's your opinion. and besides, my car already shakes. camming an LS is like having VTEC all the time. you get a sweet, evil lope sure to make any doh-mestic owner look at least twice. i like it. and i want those mounts gone. so, inserts in 3 main mounts - extra mounts = i'm good? or make solid poly 3 main mounts - extra mounts = good? i prefer the first b/c it's a lot easier, but the second is surefire.

my hasports do make my car vibrate like crazy! i'm always searching for a vibration and fixing it.. in the end i just turn up my cd player & enjoy knowing more power is getting to the wheels the only reason i wanted to get rid of the ac mount is because its ******* rusty and ugly. but i dont want to have my motor and tranny sit ackward and risk breaking axles and having everythving unbalanced.

well, i think maybe i'll just make the rear mount (the main torque mount) solid, and leave the other two stock, and remove the two lower ones that are mostly ripped anyways.

when my lower driver mount was ripped my engine moved all over the place, and i could feel the car jerk when i shifted. so i replaced it with one i bought on ebay for like $15, it feels much better now, but i am gonna get some energy suspension inserts so i dont have to suffer any more torn mounts.

I don't know why you would want to remove them, because with torn/missing mounts your engine/tranny moves alot more and can cause serious drivetrain damage.
