y8 tranny and you can usually find one in good condition for less than 250.

Edit: a y8 IM would help for your top end. y7 IM is too restrictive and getting rid of that shitty exhaust manifold would help too.

Trust me, swapping a y8 intake manifold and y8 dc sports header and cat helps A LOT.

All it takes is a little creative work when it comes to the "hybrid" manifolds but worth it after all is done.

I also hear that the y8 tranny is waaaaay better but I have yet to find that out for myself.

your car will feel ALOT better with a Y8 tranny.....so swap that bad boy in before you get an IM or a Header...

Tranny will help out a lot more than other alternatives in the same price range. I put a y8 vtec head on my y7 block as well as a y8 intake manifold, but I still have my dx tranny and it feels as if I can get much more out of my setup with a y8/z6 tranny which I will be installing this friday

Swapping the tranny is pretty straight forward, just make sure you make a friend or two to help. It'll make the job a lot easier. You should have gone with the tranny first before the exhaust and header. The tranny alone cut half a second off my 1/4 times.
