new exhaust question
im putting a header and exhasut on my 98 civic dx this friday. as you know the dx has the cat as part of the manifold and the ex the cat is after the manifold. the exhasut i am putting on will make me have the ex style exhasut with cat after my header. i was wondering if i put a stock ex cat on in place of the high flow one that comes with the exhaust if i would have a chance of passing the new inspections in NYS
thanks

Re: new exhaust question (Project_Civic)
Don't know about emissions of NY, but I do know that I did this swap like a week ago.
It's not that hard to do, the main problems are: you need to lengthen your secondary o2 sensor harness and you need a muffler shop to shorten the b-pipe right after the ex cat that you're gonna put on. Also they need to put on a new 3-bolt flange so it'll match up to the other side of the ex cat.
Don't expect this to be a bolt up job, you'll have to drive to a muffler shop with no exhaust hooked up, I did.
Oh yeah, why wouldn't pass emissions with a stock cat converter? I dont know, just a thought......

Re: new exhaust question (WildPig)
my bad, I didn't see that you were putting on ex style exhaust, then it should be a bolt up job. You'll still need to get some wire and lengthen your secondary o2 sensor harness. Remember: solder your connections!

In CA you can't move the cat from the stock location. Other states might have the same law...
