Hey I just upgraded my clutch, intake manifold, and turbo manifold on my boosted 2000 SI. This was the first time I ever installed a clutch and Intake Mani and I was pretty confident with my work.
Apparently my confidence may have been greater than my competency because my car will not start
Upon completion of my project I did a quick start up with with my remote starter and it started up OK. Since I was a mess I wanted to clean myself up a little bit then take it for a test drive so I shut the car off after 10 seconds. I cleaned up took a shower and then cranked it and it wouldn't start.
There is spark, there is fuel, and I assume there is air since it cranks so I don't know what the problem can be. Any ideas?
Edit: I'm also running an open downpipe right now and it seems that when I crank the engine it has a higher sounding pitch. This can be just because of the open downpipe.

Something wrong with your remote starter? If it started first thing and with no problem then things should be installed right. Maybe something with your intake manifold, but if it's getting fuel then it's not that. Don't know

check the little black wire that goes to the starter not the one with the nut but the one that slips on the little tooth, it might have just been touchin enough to start but once started the vibration couldve knocked it off.

Yeah, I figure it's fuel related. Prolly the new intake manifold. Need more info though.

Well I upgraded from a b16 IM to a victor X. It definitely smells like there is fuel. what other info are you looking for?
how long was the car on when you remote started it? cause make sure youe fuel pump is running correctly b/c it could have been just the pressure in the line that let it run for a short time

Well, are you really getting fuel to the injectors? What about spark? A problem with your remote starter? Anything left disconnected? I don't know really. Seems very odd to me that it started and doesn't anymore. Loose connection would be my best guess. Good Luck

Yea I only had my car on for 10 seconds...I don't know if would have stalled after that. But 10 seconds is enough to use the fuel in line especially since it was sitting for a week.
My gas pump does turn on cuz I hear it when I turn on the ignition. How would I know if fuel isn't getting to the injectors though? It definitely smells like it is.

Well you could pull one and let it spray into a glass jar or something when someone is on the gas. If it ran for 10 sec. I don't think fuel is your problem. It's gotta be something else.
My fuel pump is silent, I never hear the wirling noise of it. Maybe I'll try to listen for it more.

Make sure the MAP and TPS connectors aren't switched. Also, it should not smell like fuel, unless somethings leaking.

He is right. If you smell fuel, thats no good. You got a leak somewhere. Maybe fuel press. is you problem. Also MAP/ TPS check too.

I believe the smell of fuel is coming from the open downpipe since it's not igniting...I can be wrong. I'll check to see if it's leaking anywhere.
If it is leaking do you think it's leaking liquid fuel or fuel vapor? Cause there was nothing I saw that seemed to be liquid

Are you sure you got all of the old gasket off and theres no leaks on it? Try holding the throttle open while you crank it to see if it starts.
Also what happens when you try to start it with the remote start?
