Default Distributor Pain

Yeah my car has been running shitty for the past 2-3 weeks like it will be fine when it cools down for around 1 day but then ill drive it for about 1-2 miles and it will start puttering real bad unless i very gently baby the gas if i go anymore it will start to putter real bad and my car will shake. Also for ex. im in second gear @ 20mph and i slam on the gas it will putter all the way up until 40mph then it will run normal but reving high (i have a civic hb cx so my car never came w/ a tach or id tell you the RPM's :\). So far ive replaced Spark Plugs, Fuel Filter, Plug Wires, Distributor cap/rotor, used fuel injector cleanrer and replaced my oil cause it was very low. So im thinking that my distributor went bad so i went to a junkyard and they said i need a CX distributor and that any other one wont work. But they didnt have any, so would anyother distributor hook up to my engine? TY

So for the first few minutes, it idles fine and revs fine under load and no load? When you say after it cools down for one day: if you drive it, it gets bad, let it sit until it's cold (1 hr or so): will it run fine for a few minutes or still crappy?

take your dizzy cap off and remove the rotor and cover. you will see your ICM (Ignition Control Module) it has 4 connectors on it. has 2 screws holding it in. write down what plugs go where on the ICM. then take the ICm to your local parts store and have them test it.

I had the a similar problem and i took mine out and took it to advanced and that damn thing was dead. brand new one will set u back around $60.
