Definitely more power than the b18.The ls tranny will give you better gas mileage than the b16 but it will hurt the acceleration.

My buddy has a g2 with b16 in it. Thing flies. Not sure if the tranny, but it could take my g2 with a b18 anyday.

You will like it.

not much... the b18 is a better motor to pull the car due to the tq, the b16 will make the car slower than is was originally.

A marginal difference... You'll see better gain by a weight drop

Same as...but once you get that baby into the vtec, it f*ckin flies...I went from a ZC SOHC non vtec so there was a huge difference, oh I love it!

ive got a da9 with b16 and i love it. Its a little rough but going from a b18 to vtec oh you gotta love that sound with no muffler.

He is in a lose-lose situation. Either he has the B16 engine and tranny or the B18a engine and B16 tranny. Either way the RPM are going to be high on the freeway so that point is irrelevant. IF he decides to go B16 and keep the LS tranny I think the car would be slower cause the B16 is so peaky

your best bet would be to go with a b16 tranny with an ls final drive, 5th gear in a y1 or j1 tranny is killer to gas and it's kind of annoying if you have a loud exhaust. thats the best thing i did to my drivetrain! its so much better

i ran a b16 with ls tranny and with ys1 tranny.
with the ls tranny its still gonna rev around 3000rpm on the highway around 100km/h (sorry I am from Canada) so the gas milage on the highway is still gonna be the same as the b18, but in the city it will kill your 106 ft/lb of torque hahahaha,
with the ys1 tranny I rev around 4000rpm at around 105km/h so the b16 swap with the b16 tranny isn’t the greatest on a highway, but you can have some fun with it in the city.
