Default supercharger lag???

i just put a JRSC on my 96 gsr and i feels as if the supercharger bogs at low rpms, and also that it needs to spool up like a turbo... now i think that it could be a retarded the timing too much (a conservative 6 deg btdc) or maybe im running too rich or lean??? if anyone else has a jrsc B18C1 i would really appreciate any information.. thanks alot

you're bogging down because you're prolly running too rich. I had the same problem and had to cut the fuel and retard the timing a bit and it helped out a lot. If you dont have the map controller...i'd highly recommend it. Also, the supercharger doesnt have lag..but from my experience with my supercharger..it takes a few seconds to hit full boost. hope that helps at all.
make sure you're using good octane fuel...my sc never ran right unless i used 92 or up octane

timing can play a large role as well as fueling. if you're retarding it at the distributor, then it's obviously much more retarded than it needs to be when it is low boost (low rpm). you're better off with a "standalone" system such as hondata or uberdata. this will allow you to specify how much timing to retard at a given boost level. also, it will allow you to tweak your fuel map(s) for optimal performance. a well tuned JRSC setup should have ZERO "lag".

You can't just bolt on a forced induction piece and expect it to be perfect. Tuning would be the key here.

one more question, would a piggyback like Greddy e-manage be able to map out and tune all the **** as well as a hondata or uberdata setup?

no hondata will be alot better than emanage. You could try neptune also.

yeah the e-manage would not run it as well as a tuned AEM/hondata/uberdata/neptune system would.
