Lately ive been having idle problems. My tach needle bounces from 1000 to 1500, and its pretty annoying. it just happen recently and im not throwing any codes.
what can cause this? bad o2 sensor?
also, when i start my car (when i dont use it for 2hrs or more) it idles reallly high, and then it slowly comes down.
1988 crx hf
d16y7 dc headers
hf tranny
5spd
anything else, let me know.
Also, i may get a iacv tomorrow and hopefully it works. But if it doesnt what else can be causing this?
Thanks

That's normal. Just the fast idle thermo valve doing it's job.
For the bouncy idle-The screw inside the fitv sounds like it needs to be bottomed out. Also clean the screen on the iacv, bleed the cooling system.

Ditto for me... i've got the thing clean as hell, the screw bottomed out... the coolant system blow off... she is still hunting for a place to rest at idle.

i always link this because his guide is really good:

You should clean your FITV:

...and look for vacuum leaks by spraying some carb cleaner on the lines, and see if the engine revs.
idle sucks to troubleshoot, good luck man, my b16 calmed down after i cleaned the sensors and redid my vacuum lines, and replaced my PCV valve.

So um, which wire is it?
Doublethink, the issue with me is that I have no FITV, nowhere to put it on the Skunk2 mani and i have a older integra throttle body so its not part of it. I've tried multiple iacvs. I've bottomed out that screw but it only seems to make my car not wanna run at all at idle and its a bitch to start up when i do that. I also run insanely rich and if i sit at idle long enuff after i drive i throw an O2 code. Replaced the O2 sensor about 2 weeks ago. Didnt help.

I have had this work on many occasions when the idle was jumping. Warm the engine up to operating temperature. Disconnect the IACV. The engine should be idling about 700-750 (Base idle). If not set it to 700-750 using the idle speed screw. It is located just above and to the firewall side of the TB opening. If it has never been adjusted it will have wax filling the hole. Remove the wax then turn the screw in to reduce the speed, out to increase it. Reconnect the IACV and if the base idle was the problem it should "go away".

This is a good suggestion. It should help diagnose where your problem is. bleed your coolant, again. Check your TPS, and then clean the EACV. I know its repetitive but it took me about 3 tries to get my idle to calm down.
