Default Boosted B16A1 or GSR swap?

I have a 89 CRX Si with basic bolt ons. We are getting ready to do a complete swap but I noticed for the amount of money I would have in the GSR motor and swap, I could do a boosted B16 swap for just a little bit more if not the same amount. Anyways just looking for everyones opinion.

You could probably boost a B16 for the same price as buying a b18c swap and out perform the gsr engine by a lot.

boosted b16a.....would eat up the gsr....In the right car/right driver....basic boltons would pull on a gsr....so boosted would def give you the advantage....but mak sure you do it legit....make sure you don't blow up the motor.

From what I remember, a b18c's increased deck height won't clear the stock hood. Also, modification to the front crossmember is necessary, and the header will have very little ground clearance. I wanted to do a b18c EF a while back, and remember these few points.

ok if you wanna just be straight up fast and don't care weather you blow your motor or not. By all means go b16a turbo. But it you wanna be quick and fast but be very reilable. get the b18c. I had the same opition as you either boost my b16a and be quick for a while then down the motors gone then i have nothing. or be a little quicker than my b16a but be reilable. I chose the b18c1. but the choice is yours. And actually Noob4life b18c1 isnt that much harder than a b16a it's about the same. Take a look ill post pics to prove it.

Yeah I just saw your post, pretty cool. I didn't know that, everything I read seemed to mention those problems.

Is 10-12 PSI on the b16 enough to significantly shorten the life-span if its properly tuned?

I would hope not

yeah man burlyirisdude is right. you try puttin 10 or 12 psi on a stock b16a i give that thing 3 months top if that. See the choice is yours when u slap a turbo on a stock motor sooner or later it will brake correct me if im wrong people. I no tuning is where it's at but it will give one day. nice thing about b16a short blocks is they can be pickup for about 600 plus shipping so it's all up to you

Hell yeah guys, I appreciate it. I just saw pics of the gsr swap and I think that might be which way I will go just because it's a daily driver. I appreciate all the help. Who do you think would be the best shop to do it at. I live in Louisville, KY if anybody is around here. I wouldn't mind taking it somewhere close if it was a better shop. Thanks

From what I have seen in the FI forum, reliable 250whp is easily attainable on a boosted b16. I'd suggest doing some research there.
