Default OT: fuel additive fragrance

I've got a Virginia "safety" inspection coming up again in March, and I don't feel like swapping out my test pipe.
I'm somewhat "concerned" that any idiot that takes a wiff of my exhaust will know there's something ...amiss.

I was looking through one of the "ricer" mags at Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago and read an ad for a fuel additive which can make the exhaust smell "nicer", for instance root beer, pina colada, ... and two or three others.

Yes, this would most likely be a single use situation.
I don't believe I'm even asking for this stuff! Ed

when they test your emissions they are going to know...

You need to swap out the test pipe.

yeah I've seen that too. I think it was in the large Summit catalog. They have like 50 scents! hahahahahaha
I'm just not too sure about what it will do to your spark plugs, injectors, etc...
That stuff has to be bad...

Without a cat, you won't pass emissions. Hell, my GS-R barely passed WITH a cat...if you have a shop where you know the guys, go there, they might go the extra mile...

I think those scents are for nitromethane vehicles anyway...
Some how I think the smog technicial may be a little suspicious when the stench of rotton eggs with a overtone of pina colada fills the shop....

Yup... possibly for nitromethane.. I didn't read it closely at the time.
BTW -- as I initially tried to indicate, the "safety" inspection is not the "emissions" inspection, however I did once flunk the "safety" inspection for not havinf the "cat" on my CRX ... years ago (the perils of pulling into an inspection station with a roll bar, etc..).

And yes, it smells ... doesn't even need to be indoors ... you guys know the "scent"!
Oh well, ... it's FRIDAY!

True that!

But I'll lie (to his face if I have to), and tell him it's a "special" version!
My test pipe looks like a resonator and is SS, w/ the secondary O2 plugged in.
No CEL because of the Mugen computer.

I'd really rather not lie (esp. to his face), and will probably swap in the stock cat, but ... was just wondering ....

If they look, just put the factory cat heat shields back onto your test pipe.
