Default D-series axle install ?

Please help...I'm in the process of replacing my passenger side axle on my 98 civic ex with out abs. After removing the original axle and comparing it to the new one that I purchased from CarQuest...it appears that they might have given me the drivers side axle. Reason being...because the origingal axle has a small rubber boot at about half way up the shaft and the new one does not have this. I checked the driverside axle, (still on the car) and it doesn't have this boot so the flag went up. Do I have the right axle for the passenger side? I can't make heads or tails from the diagram below. My car is on jackstands right now and I need it in the morning.

Dude you can TELL if its the driver's side axle as it is a good deal longer than the passenger one. If your replacement axle is the same length as the one it replaces then you're good to go. They call those boots harmonic balancers or dampeners (i forget which) and they help to cut down vibration from the rotation of the assembly.

What the guy sed above you is completely right. You can tell if you got the wrong axle by looking at the length. If the replacement is the same length as the original one.. then its the correct one. Most aftermarket axles dont have that rubber boot thing around it, but it still works. I've done many axle changes with aftermarket axles on friends cars and they have no problems.
