Default mis shifted my ls/vtec - everything ok?

heres the deal, I was going from 2nd gear to 3rd gear, my 3rd gear synchros trashed so sometimes it doesnt want to go in.. rpms shot up to 9400 for a second, not long at all. my valvetrain is ok to 10k and oil pressure still looks ok

should i worry about bearings??? what do i need to check?

thanks honda tech

cope

unless you hear any noises coming from your motor (knocking or clicking), and there arent any CELs on, you're prolly ok.

it might not be a bad idea to check for any oil leaks around the motor tho....

If you didn't break anything then, you're probably ok. No Knocking noises from the bottom end?

nope - valvetrain is noisy as usual but other than that oil pressure is staying the same and no knocking.

it just scared the hell out of me...!

Did your rev-limiter take the day off?

happened to almost all of us at one time or another. i did this after i built the head in my LS. shifted at redline (6800 rpms) try n to go from 3rd to 4th, went into second instead. seen my tach go to like 9K!!!! clutched down and let off the gas. coasted in neutral for about a good minute while i tried to dry the pee off my leg

good thing i built the head with springs and retainer's or else i might have had valve float. everything was fine though. im still beat n on the egine to this day and have excellent oil pressure. 90psi at full throttle, 65-75 psi at 3K and 20 psi at idle.
misshifting is pretty scary. hope i never do it again.

word of advice, dont talk on the cell phone while try n to shift gears at redline. it's a no non

i did the exact same thing, im not worried about the head because i know my head is good to 10k, but im just worried about the bottom end is it possible that i damaged a rod bearing even though there is no knock????

Guess that explains my rev-limiter comment....It wasn't clear in your post that you shifted into a lower gear, it sounded like you just missed the shift.
