Default .....my 2nd turbo casualty. :/

So I go over to scttydb411's house this past Sunday and he hooks me up with the street tune on uberdata.

If you're in GA, I highly recommend him as he's very easy to work with; professional and courteous, as well as very reasonable with pricing.

I had some small issues which we got worked out: 2ndary o2 bung was clocked to where I couldn't put his wideband there, so he disabled my primary and just tuned with his wideband in the primary location.

Next, I saw some 16:1 a/f ratio under a little bit of boost which he quickly corrected.

Next, I blew off a charge pipe under about 5-6psi of partial throttle boost in 3rd gear... it kinda scared the both of us.

We got back to his house and put the charge pipe back on. Then he got rid of the little hint of detonation in 4th gear between 3k - 5k rpm.

Then I went home.

All was well until last night. I went over to meet VtecKidd and johnzm + a couple other friends and drop off a t3/t4 to a buddy (Jose) for his project. Of course, johnzm wants to go for a ride and beat on my car! LOL

So we go out and I just do partial throttle 5psi pulls in 1st and 2nd. Then we turn around and I do a 1/2/3rd gear pull at 9psi...

1st = short shift b/c it spins, 2nd I just let spin, 3rd gear spins, then revs super high to 9k but the tires aren't spinning after about 5-6k rpm.

Yup, toda clutch can't hold the turbo power.

I was kind of expecting this, but not so soon! LOL

In retrospect, johnzm said he thought the clutch was starting to spin around 8krpm in 2nd gear. Currently, it holds 5psi fine in 1st and 2nd gear just fine. So I can drive to work and home with no problems, and it's probably be fine for an allmotor car - the clutch just wasn't meant for boost... toda doesn't make anything turbo related for honda's.....

So now I guess I'll get another action clutch from rocket.

****. I was hoping to hit the strip and see what she could do with this 9psi base map.

Ahh well... another 6-puck unsprung clutch should fix this.

-the r0cker, who was still breathing asbestos on the ride to work this morning...

Popular topic, eh!

Don't do the 1MD. It won't hold the torque.

I have the 2MD, I let my wife borrow it and she didn't stall it, actually she said she liked the feel of it more than my stock clutch. It's not too bad, pretty streetable, but don't expect to make limo-smooth shifts in it without some practice

Besides an occasional howl/screech, and a stiff pedal, the cluch had been friendly to me so far.

Rockkaahhh, any idea how much power you're putting down? Spinning 3rd... wow. Mine barely does that and I wasn't even driving when it happened.

edit: at work, it's yellow bl0rt.

haha, I already have the 2md in my hatch... I think I'm going to go with the same thing in my itr... or is there a 3md? Are the kevlar pads worth it, or did you get the miba?

How about an Exedy Stage 2 Thick Clutch kit? Those hold a decent amount of power.

The "2MD" only comes in one flavor. There's 2KS (sprung) and 2MS and blah blah blah...

The 2 stands for dual diaphram pressure plate. MS is sprung. MS and MD are Miba. 2KS is kevlar and sprung.

I've only ever had the 1MD and 2MD, can't speak for the Kevlar.

Yeah, no **** dude. With a beat clutch, you're spinning 3rd? Maybe if I TRIED really hard with my 2MD I could do it. But from normal (spirited/quarter mile/track) it shouldn't spin in the dry!

You should sit on a dyno and see what the hell kind of power and torque you're making. You might want to back off a little.

205/50/15 Azenis on a cold night. Stock pressure @ 35psi.

It was only for a sec before the clutch started spinning instead of the tires.

If I were to roll on 3rd, it wouldn't spin (previously). But the car would try to wander due to lsd and looking for traction at the top of the gear (you know what I'm talking about).

I doubt it's making that much power - prolly low to mid 200's at best. But the torque comes on so hard when the turbo spools up that it starts to lose a little traction.

Yeah, that happened to me once, too at an HPDE.. I'm like crap, now what? EBC showed 0.00 boost so I figured it was a charge pipe.
