mig wire spool starts jerkin all crazy......what to do?
just got a new welder the other day(nothin expensive just for home use) and i get it all set up and go to use it and..............
if i just pull the trigger im fine but when im welding the wire seems to speed up and slow down, then i had my wife watch the spool as i weld, and she says it just starts rocking back and forth, all herky jerky like!!!!!
ive set the tension on the spool and adjusted the tension on the feed roller but what else is there to do????
when it starts doing it you can hear it...it doesnt have a smooth sound anymore and it causes my welds to be all blobby like????

I'm guessing your wire spool is not tight enough or the feed roller is too tight... that would explain the jerking when you trigger on and off when welding vs just holding the trig on...? I think the wire spool has to be tighter then the feed roller I'm not pro, but I did go through simular stuff with my mig setup...
Another thing to check is what size wire your using. If you are using high amperage and very small wire, sometimes there is a tendency for the wire to actually arc itself onto the remaining wire on the spool. Just something to check.
i am using .30 wore, my feed roller has 2 sizes, so i swapped the roller around, tightened up the spool and so far so good, i will try the grease thing too.
also if i get at a tight angle my wire binds up and slows down does anyone else have this problem??
also when i was welding with no gas, my welds were nice, but when i switched over to gas, my welds look like poop!! i changed all the settings and polarity and stuff too, like it said
