Default B16A

what car exactally does the B16a come in stock. preferably the b16a1 because thats the cable tranny one right? i was just thinking today that my dad is friends with a few people who own yards and maybe i can find one in there. i doubt they would even charge me any money. this one guy seems to have quite a few imports in there. i have seen prob 20 eclipses or more and prob just as many civics and a few scattered integras. so if anyone knows the car that the B16a comes in stock, thanx in advance.

that's a b16a3... he needs the b16a<no number> for an easy 4th gen civic / 2nd gen crx swap...

The B16a you need is from a JDM VTi teg, 90-91 or a Civic/CRX SiR 89-91 I think were the only years.

HopeThisHelps

nope, the only cars that came stock with the b16a1 were the jdm civic SiR, and the jdm integra xsi? i believe that is correct. neither one came to the us though.

yea but if i get the motor out of a gsr thats a b18 right. the swap will be way more complicated too right. the del sol only has vtec no dohc too right. so if i can find any b16 alls i have to do is find a cable tranny which wont be a problem. whats the gig with the OBD thing. what will i have to watch out for there.

the gsr motor is a b18c and a ls motor is b18a/b......the del sol has dohc vtec in the 94-95 models.....im not too sure what you have to do to convert non-obd to obd1....id say just get any dohc motor(90 and up) you can get your hands on or just go with a sohc vtec motor since your most likely gunna get it for free

that is correct and the 92-93 gsr are obd1 also its not that hard to convert to obd1 u just need to run teh obd1 ecu and dist and all teh 92-93 gsr is a b17 dohc vtec

wait a minute. if your family has the hook up at a junkyard. then tell your pops to go to the auctions and get a totalled ITR through it in get a JDM cable tranny S1 preffered ( same gears as USDM ITR ) and call it a day.

after our last battle i figure i will be nice...
your right the only one i saw at auction in AZ sold for 11K i think. some shop owner bought it and probably doubled his money parting it out. But i dont know about you but i dont have 11K floating around.

But if i did. wait wasnt that another recent topic. heheh

to be honest with u imports are hard to get at auctions everyone wants em for parts weve got a junkyard and its easier to get hit by lightning than get imports for real

true that. I know the shop owners of one yard here and they actually call me when they get a CRX in cause im always parting them. but for newer cars like 94+ tegs and 96+ civics. forget it. the best places for newer cars is thepartstrader or ebay. sad as it may be.

the sohc vtec motor has no dohc but a b16 like your asking has dohc. so does the gsr motor, the gsr motor only has a 10 horse difference. and you can get a newer b16 and then sell the hydro tranny and get a cable tranny.

yeh thats true but if hes got the junk yard hookup like ME u dont need to buy and sell u just get it so he just gets all the parts and makes it a obd1 setup if he has to and rewires for the obd1 with a usdm cable tranny

ok im not even considering a B18 or b17. i really want a b16. im pretty set on it. so how hard is it to change the tranny from hydro to cable and what cars would i be looking for to find a b16 in it. also u said that alls i have to do to run obd1 is the distibutor and ecu. is that it or what else needs to be done.
