Default OBD 2 engine in OBD 1 car

The engine in my sisters hatch is just about to die (coolant leak in head, not the headgasket). I have found some OBD 2 engines pretty cheap and with low miles. Will the OBD1 engine harness plug right up or will I have to alter the harness?

if it is the same engine that is in the car now only obd2 then just use your old ecu that is obd1 and it will plug right in and will work fine.

your obd1 harness will not plug right up to the obd2 motor. however, you can swap pretty much every part from the obd1 motor to the new motor so you can use your old harness.

This is correct you can use the obd2 in your sister's car and wll need to reuse most of the components from your obd1 motor. alternator, dist, injectors,

just spend the 100 bucks and buy the obd2 harness, then everything will plug up. the engine harness plugs right into your car. you will only have to wire the tach. thats simple just jump the wire from the dist plug to the car harness. then your golden.

its my sisters car and everything has been recently serviced by Honda. Everything is pretty new. Wouldn't I have to put a second O2 sensor in the exhaust as well as a few other things? I was already going to change out the water pump, timing belt and a few other things. What would be the easiest?

you dont need the 2nd o2 sensor because you are running the obd1 ecu. you only need that if you want to run obd2 ecu and why would you want to??

hatchi is right the obd1 ecu will only look for obd1 sensors, not all the restrictive stuff as in the obd2
