For the light weight Nazi's in the group..
Yeah, i'm one to talk .... What ever can be replaced with something lighter and better i am all for it. So, with that being said....
Honda spent a but load of time and money on getting the R to be a light weight car why is the spare such a pos?
With that in mind all or at least most of us know that if we have a flat or blow out on the front we now have to change two tires instead of just the flat one because with a lsd you can not use the space saver spare on the front.. ( jacks with the lsd).
Not to mention the fact we are all running a 205/50/15 all the way around which just aggravates the size different between the spare and all of the other tires..
The solution......
1988-89 RX-7's come with a all aluminum 16"x4" spare which is damn light and very close to a 205/50/15 and can be used on the front of an ITR... It ( RX-& ) also has a very sexy all aluminum jack as well that fits perfectly where the stock Honda one fits.. In all its a weight savings over 25 lbs between the two ....
in the rear of the ITR..
Yuck... the stock spare..
As you can see not much diffrence between a 205 and this 16"
This with a spare and no air in it.... yep i was just to lazy..
the light *** jack....
not to bad for $10
My new use for the old spare...tire chuck...
As you can see it fits and works well. Sorry GS-R guys 5 lug only..
I am told that the early 1st gen RX-7 had a 4x100 alu spare as well but i have not seen one. i am also told that they are YELLOW.......
i got my spare from http://www.car-part.com
Good luck and happy hunting..

if you get a flat or watever on the front tires...i heard that you are supposed to always put the spare on the rear..because your factory lsd might get taco'd if you run one spare and one normal wheel on the front....correct me if im wrong.

That's why he's running this spare. It's size is comparable to the regular size wheel and tire.

I do a lot of on road rallys and i am looking for a 50% cross weight with a 1/2 load fuel and in full street trim. I must carry any thing i may need on the road with me and right now my R is at 51.09 % cross weight with me as a driver and a car in street trim.
