Default I have a good anti-theft idea.....

I'm sure it's been done before, or thought of before, and it has it's pro's and con's:

1. Switch to hondata/ uberdata/ crome/ aem ems/ neptune, etc.

2. Run larger than 310cc injectors. This is a MUST in order for it to work. You must run injectors that are bigger than the stock ecu can push. 370cc+ injectors are good. Even if you have just bolt-ons and won't need so much fuel, you will get the car tuned and scale the injector pulsewidth/ duty cycle down.

3. When you leave the car exposed overnight or whatever, remove the ecu.

4. If this isn't feasible, simply remove the rom and put it in your pocket.

I know there are plenty of reasons why this will be kind of retarded - nobody likes to carry their ecu into the mall/ theater, etc. But in that case, just use a zif socket in your ecu and pull the eprom and put it in a static bag (inside a hard case so you won't crush it). It's a bit of a pain in the ***, but even if thieves get into your car and try to start it - even if they realize there's no ecu in the car, they can't just use any old ecu or eprom because they don't know your injector size. They won't ever be able to start the car!

Thoughts?

I don't know about this. To much trouble. Can't they just tune a uberdata or whatever ecu to 310+cc injector and run it on any car then, even on stock injectors?
Just put a LS sticker on.

Pretty involved but it seems unbeatable unless they tow the caR.

Good idea I say

Hey, I know let's discuss how to stop a thief and then wonder why they continue to steal our RRRRRs.

Anybody with a knowledge of vehicle electrical systems can implement passive theft systems. When you figure it out keep it off the inter-web and pm your buddies.

Seems like a good idea. A little too much trouble for my liking but I'll welcome any theft prevention with open arms. Good idea and **** theives!!!

I can see it now, you are on your first date with a really good looking girl.

Her - "Ohh how nice of you to open the door for me"
You - "Yeah well that is one reason, really I just wanted to unplug the ECU so no one could take my car"

I don't think that would go over too well.

stinks why spend more money than you have to on another ecu and injectors..

1. remove your main relay ( its small enough to fit in your pocket) plugs/unplugs in secs.

2. or you can move the main relay to a different hidden location also...

no cutting of oem wires and no fear of frying your ecu due to static.

its the "oem kill switch" as i call it why not use it.

my car starts with 370s without much problem on an ecu that was reflashed for a stock C5 motor...

*shrug*

in fact we did a couple of pulls on that

You will get more power out of your setup with a socketed ecu + tuning.

You won't have to worry about maxing out the duty cycle of your injectors.

This is one layer of the security. You should already have kill switches, etc.

Thieves could try to put an ecu sized for larger injectors but I can guarantee you they won't be able to start my car even with 370cc injector program.....
