What sensor is this?
I think that might be the knock sensor. But if you're running without the sensor then you should be getting a CEL (if you weren't already). With OBD2 you'll be thrown into limp mode (no Vtec, limited revving) but if you're using a chipped or otherwise altered ECU you will still be running fine.

No, none of the B series EVER had a thermal switch there. The thermalswitch sits about 5" lower then that beside the oil filter. NOT above it. It also has two terminals on it similar to the oil pressure sending unit. That *IS* the knock sensor.

Youre right, i pictured that location after you posted and that is where it is located. That is the knock sensor indeed.

if the ECU is chipped it could be ignoring the knock sensor.. which is a good thing.

I always thought knock sensor was directly below the intake mani?</TD></TR></TABLE>
How much more "directly under the intake manifold" do you want it? It has to be next to the cylinders since its job is to monitor knock. So what do you want?

lol I wonder if he knows what an intake manifold is?
EDIT: after re-reading his first post "swapping GSR manifold" it would appear that he does. now I'm really confused
