Default Is there a way to make vtec work and everything that goes with while using obd0

So i got a d16y8 in an obd0 car with obdo dizzy and pm6 ecu. Right now ive got the vtec
solenoid hooked up to a push botton switch that just turn the solenoid on and off when released. now ive read that in order for vtec to really work the vtec oil pressure needs to come on and the timing gets altered, advanced or retarded im not sure. Im wondering if theres a way i can get all three to work at the same time from a remote location eg. a switch in the car. Cause i dont want it to be on all the time only when im gonna race. I was thinkin a rpm switch for the solenoid and a stand alone ignition system for the timing but i dont know what i could use for the oil pressure, maybe it could tie into the rpm switch. I dont want the ignition system to be on all the time but to use the regular timing system for the car. Like i said i want it to all be hooked up to a flip switch in the dash. I dont know enough about the vtec system or ingiton to do this.
Can anyone please help me with this project. Also im gonna put a chip in the ecu you. if does this would it handle the boosted ignition problem for me ?
Thanks ... I love this site......
Hopefully one day i can answer other peoples questions like mine..........

Please put your flame suit on.

In order to make the Vtec work properly, do it right. You probably won't even end up paying as much for all the right parts as you think. People sell these parts all the time on here, just look.

an rpm switch is like $75. A roll of wiring is like $10 bucks, a switch is like $3.00.

A conversion harness is between $50-$150. Good luck finding an p28 ecu under $125 on ebay. An a used unwarrantied obd1 dizzy is $100. The wiring harness for every little sensor on the engine is like $100.

I could spend that money on a paint job

You don't have any junkyards around where you are? Junkyards are the best place to go for these kind of parts. If you're going to do it, you should do it right the first time. It will save you the $88 you're going to spend on switches and wire. Don't forget, you also mentioned a standalone ignition system.

If you don't want to do it right, you're probably better off not using the Vtec at all. It'd be pointless to waste all of that time you're going to waste setting up a standalone system, rpm switches and all that crap.

the closest junkyard that will let you pull stuff out of cars is like 45 miles away and i work at night, and then come home and sleep.

but isnt junkyard prices roughly the same as on ebay.

From now on I consider myself lucky to live in a city with 5 local (big) junkyards. Two of them let me go back and pull things off cars myself, and one of the two has the best prices. I make a point to go at least once every couple of weeks to see what's new. A couple here have really horribly expensive prices, so I know what you mean...

Unfortunatly, I'm in the same boat you're in (working at night). I find the best time to get things done is right after work in the morning, then go sleep after. My best advice would be to search in the classifieds for a PR3 or a PW0 ECU like 2lua said... if you have no luck make a WTB thread in there, post the link in your sig and someone will have one for you. Most people have this old stuff lying around in their garage and they don't even think anyone wants it. As for the dizzy, I don't know if they're all the same or not... I thought it was all computer controlled.
