so i was watching videos on you tube and i found one the they put a switch to activated the vtec does anybody no if is true ?? and how to connect it??

Definitely not! Takes more than that to engage v-tec. Oil pressure mainly. But the fact of the matter is that v-tec at 2000 rpm really won't do much anyway. And it would be a pain in the *** having to worry about "flipping a switch" to engage the v-tec.

yeah its been done i personally haven't done it dont know why you would hook it up to a switch when you could just chip the ecu but would imagine you just wire the solenoid up to a switch

Really, that doesn't sound like a good idea to me..... and someone just asked me about this the other day and I said I had never heard of such a thing, but dont like the idea lol

While I'm sure it could work, could being the key word, it's not a good idea. There's a reason it's variable valve timing, and not just running one aggressive cam. You make more power on the bottom end with the less aggressive cam and as the torque band drops off on that, the torque picks up on the aggressive cam and that is where VTEC is supposed to engage.

If you need another reason not to wire a switch for VTEC, keep in mind you're only opening the intake side more and it's not going to make a huge difference power wise on a single cam. I think it's more of a marketing ploy on Honda's behalf.

Definitely done as a "quick fix" when your ecu is throwing a cel, when uou dont have a knock sensor, when you have a non vtec ecu etc.

This is the oldest trick in the book. I used it for a while on my mini me, not to lower vtec engagent(bad idea) but because i had a p2e instead of p2p ecu
