http://www.knfilterchargers.co...-3509

I'm looking for a intake for my R and stumbled on these, has anyone tried these or have any reviews of it?
thanks.

Not to much more power then what you would get with a 20 dollar ebay intake ... switch out the intake with an K&N filter ... OMG almost the same

I ran a K&N intake on my Dakota 5.9 R/T and throttle response increased and butt dyno said it was worth the $275 I paid. Obviously a V8 is hardly a comparison.

The heat shield is a plus. If it's cheap enough I'd try it out. I can't see it being any better or worse than a generic short ram w/ shield. Good luck with it.

they don't actually make one application specific for the R.

we sell tons of these things through advance but i seriously doubt it's worth the $250-$300 you're gonna pay for one that might fit, might as well spend a few more bucks and get a J's. Probably be better off just buying a generic ebay short ram and putting a K&N filter on it.

K&N used 3 cars from me to test fit & dyno the intake system you are inquiring about; GSR, Si, & Type R.

However, they were the earlier version with a plastic intake pipe (similar to Iceman intakes). Dyno gains were poorest on the B16A, better on the ITR, and best on the GSR. The heatshield is designed to sit flush with the roof of the hood, it is finished in black with some type of heat resistant coating and it makes a difference especially if you feed cool air via ducting into that area.

I'll try to find the dynocharts and scan them if I can, but it's been a long while so there's a chance they've been thrown away. Nonetheless, the

No Turbo Pig application. Weak

Though I'm happy with the K&N drop-in panel filter. No idea if it gained anything, but at least I can hear the turbo spool now

It is much improved over stock, I have it hooked up to 68mm TB. But I have no comparison. Looking at getting memory fab wahle *****; since everyone raves about it... But The typhoon does make it load in full throttle and when vtec kicks in. But since I have used the typhoon on 2 different motors, I like it. Can not use CAI in Florida, lots of rain and standing water. On my LS It gave me better throttle response and actually increased my fuel mileage. On Highway got 36 mpg!!!! But since my swap, I have no reference. It was install on my JDM ITR motor from the start. But it dynoed at 180hp, 129tq... With all OEM internals... Seems pretty strong for an ITR motor...

Enough of my babbling, You can ride with me at Expo, and give me some pointers....

Yeah, the insulation properties of the whole system is what makes it good. I have one and if I pop my hood after driving my car for a little while, I can feel a difference when I put my hand on either side of the heatshield. Its a good 15 degree difference at least. Since the pipe itself is plastic too it doesnt absorb as much heat as a metal one. I give the intake a but I dont have much experience with any other ones.
