Default vtec?

Ok, I dont know that much about ecu chips, so there for I need your help. In a spoon chip, I think the rev limiter is set to 8500, right? and the vtec is set to 4500. Is this ok to throw in a daily driver with just i|h|e? Or would you recomend getting some head work done first? And is there any long time effects of using one of these?

Unless you have some extensive tuning done on your car, don't change your VTEC cross over. Simple logic, VTEC is harder on the engine, so having VTEC engauged more is not the best of ideas.

Knowing this thread went down the ******* already. You usually want to raise the rev limit not lower it.

Preprogrammed chips are as usefull as all the other **** you guys mentioned.

I dont understand why a lower vtec crossover is a bad thing (though probably this low it's going to lag). Is it not basically like having a larger cam in there when the lobes kick in?

The way you are thinking is not totally wrong. It's just that Honda programmed the ECU a certain way to gain the most out of the concept and power that VTEC produces. So once you start ******* with all of it without having enough engine work and tuning done, then it is just going to, esentially, cause a lose of power.
