Knock Sensor annoying...JDM B16
The CEL comes on code 23 randomly while im driving. It doesnt affect the car when driving but it does come on. So i dont know what to do. i make sure the wire is plugged into the knock sensor, but other than that im stumped. what to do?
JDM b16a Sir II into a 93 civic ex coupe w/ p30 ecu and d16z6 wiring harness.

would the p28 perform worse than the p30 for that engine swap? im geting my swap soon and was wondering what the best ECU would be for my swap. (same engine in 93 cx hatch)
*sorry for teh thread jack

get ur stock p28 chipped and it will run great and that ecu doesnt even look for the knock sensor so it will never go off but then agian i dont think that the jdm b16 sir2 motor has a vtec pressure switch on the vtec selonoid either and that will throw a check engine light kinda sucks hard to win.. pain in the ***.. lol..
I think that chipped p28 run better then stock jdm p30 ecu.
and if u no how to chip then u can program it to run how u wish my man.

a chipped p28 for me wasted buttloads of gas. after i put in a 94 gsr ecu, i got about 300 mi for an almost full tank. i still had about 2 gallons left over and calculated it at 32 mi/gal.
good thing that i dont care about gas mileage cuz mines does run a lil rich and i get about 200 to a tank.. in my gsr swap with chipped p28 but i have like a 9 gallon tank...

Well, YEAH!? A "stock" P28 is made for a Z6, not a B16. Hence why he said to have it chipped.

Because you had an *** of a chip. Period.

what kind of chips do most people run and how much do they usually go for?
TIA

its a little deeper than just a "chiped"p28 you need your p28 chiped and rom tuned with uberdata, make a good base map,and then tune it alittle you will be all set.

Not exactly. The chip itself is pretty much the same. You can start with a P72 base, a P30 base, JDM, USDM, etc.. In the end, like has already been said, it should be "tuned" specifically to your vehicle. This is the number one reason people complain of gas mileage dropping off. Most "chips" run the idea that "More fuel = more power" which couldn't be farther from the truth. The Mugen bases are horribly rich, skunk2 is a Mugen knock off, etc. Depending on your mods, I would fix the timing maps, MAYBE add like 2-3% more fuel depending on what you have done, and then tune from there.

holy, i did do any research on chipping or tuning ECU yet, i just want to get my b16 running first... will it run off the p30 it comes with till i get to chip/tune a p28?
Well my knock sensor is just goin off cause a loose wire which pisses me off. cause where it plugs into the sensor unclips itself. im ready just to solder that bitch for good lol. As for the ECU i'm goin HONDATA with my p28 ecu and ill sell the p30. the p30 is good for factory but when it comes to HONDATA S200 then P28 all the way.
