Default 91 JDM B16A IM Question...

Hey everyone,
I'm just curious if anyone knows whether the Skunk2 IM for a B16A2/3 will fit on a 91 JDM B16A1? I'm thinking that it does, but I wanna be sure, you know. Thanks

Yes all b16a, b18c5 engines share the same stud pattern for the intake manifold. The b18c1 and b18c gsr engines have a different stud pattern. So in short the skun2 manifold will bolt to the jdm b16a head

Yes it will fit. You'll need a 94+ b-series fuel rail and an obd1 iacv.

also you'll need a type r throttle cable bracket. The original won't work.

I'm sure it'll work, just wouldn't clear the hood right?

I was just curious on the 1st gen B16 fitment. I have a Skunk2 IM on my GSR powered civic, the bracket didn't clear the hood (nor did it clear my sway bar), but I didn't want to buy a whole new bracket, spring, n cable. So I just cut and welded the bracket, fits perfectly! (and cost only $10 to do so)

the GSR and B16a have different bolt patterens so iif you have the GSR the IM will not work<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by r0guish &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

I know, the GSR IM is installed in my GSR powered Civic...The B16 IM will be installed in my brother's B16 powered hatch, sorry I should have been more specific.

If i were you, i'd look into the 2nd gen B16 intake manifold (p30), it makes more power than both the ITR and skunk II manifolds. Its been dyno proven.

you have any threads to prove that? i fail to see how a 99si IM flows better then an ITR or an aftermarket....

if its true im psyched bc i can get my hands on one from a 99si for really cheap, i just saw one at this parts yard i was at today, but i thought ot myself,

"guys usually do the ITR so i should just wait for one of those...."

prove me wrong!

I'll have to dig up up some dyno charts. The itr and skunk do make more power than the 1st gen manifold, "but" on a stock or slightly modified B16 the P30 maifold makes even more power. In fact i'm taking the itr manifold off my other b16 in favor of the P30. Its good for about 3-6hp at the wheels except for after about 8200rpm where for a very brief "peak" it make 6-8hp more. They key is to make more power accross a broad area of the rpm's.

I have no reason to make up performance numbers, i own both a b16A and a B18C5 and have tried many parts on both engines to what does and dosen't work.

I don't think he means anything bad, it just sounds wierd. If you can find these dyno charts I would love to see them as well. If it is ture I am going to be pi$$ed. if you are turbo do you think the 99si one is still better?

Unless your engine is craving more air you wont see anything. This Del Sol b16 dyno had i/h/e and Crower 401 cams. With stock internals an aftermarket intake will cost you even more hp and torque.

the basic jist of it is that aftermarket manifolds will most likely have a larger plenum and shorter runners. those two things are great for adding horsepower in the upper RPM range (and i'm guessing for boost, but i don't know **** about boost), but from about 0-6000 RPM, the stock manifold with it's smaller plenum and longer runners actually makes more power for some reason. it's strange little things like this that make me want to take a fluid dynamics course.
